At a glance

- from $195
49–70 min - Cheapest
- Rideshare, off-peak, for one or two people
- $78
53–75 min - Fastest
- Private car, met at arrivals with wait time included
- from $195
49–70 min - With small kids
- Uber Car Seat for one child, a private car or rental for two or more
- from $195
49–70 min
Why that pick. Rideshare is usually cheaper here for one or two people, and a flat private quote only closes the gap once you are at XL prices or a peak-hour surge. What you are buying at this distance is certainty: a fixed price agreed in advance and a car that is contracted to turn up, on a trip where being an hour late has consequences.
Still deciding how you leave the airport at all? The Orlando airport transportation guide compares every option out of MCO, terminal by terminal, before you narrow it to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB).
Every option, side by side
| Option | Estimated cost | Door to door | Passengers | Car seats | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rideshare — UberX / Lyft per vehicle | $78–$142 | 53–75 min | 1–3 | Uber Car Seat, +$10 | Surge at peak arrivals. One seat per car, 5–65 lb, reserve only |
| Rideshare — XL / Lyft XL per vehicle | $121–$220 | 53–75 min | 4–6 | Bring your own | Often the only way to keep a family together |
| Private car per vehicle | from $195 | 49–70 min | Sedan 1–3, SUV 1–5 | On request | Flat quote agreed up front, flight tracked, met at arrivals |
| Rental car per day, not per trip | $45–$70/day | 77 min–1h 50m | Whatever fits | Rentable | A base rate, not a trip total: add tolls, fuel and any parking at the other end |
Know before you go
- MCO and SFB are 40 miles apart. Check which airport your flight actually uses.
- SunRail's Sanford station is not at the airport.
- A transfer between the two airports is an hour and is priced accordingly.
Beyond Orlando
This is a long transfer, which changes the economics completely. Over about forty miles, rideshare pricing climbs faster than a flat private rate, and a rental car for the day often beats both.

How we priced this
Distance is approximately 40 road miles from Orlando International Airport. Rideshare figures are modelled from Orlando UberX pricing at $5.50 base plus $2.05 per mile plus a $4.00 airport fee, then widened to a range covering off-peak to heavy surge. They are estimates for planning, not quotes, and Orlando surges hard when flights land in waves or a convention lets out. Private car figures are typical flat rates for a sedan or standard SUV from a permitted local operator. Shuttle and transit fares are the published ones. All checked September 15, 2026.
Common questions
Rideshare, off-peak, for one or two people at $78, taking roughly 53–75 min door to door. Cheapest is not the same as best: read the catch column above before you book it.
About 48 minutes of actual driving. Door to door, allow around 53–75 min by rideshare once you add the walk to the pickup zone and the wait for a driver, and longer if you checked bags. A pre-booked car that meets you inside saves most of that overhead.
It depends on party size and what your arrival looks like. For one or two people with carry-ons it is hard to justify against a $78 to $142 rideshare. For five or more people, a late-night landing, or anyone travelling with children who need car seats, a flat $195 quote that is met at baggage claim is usually the better purchase. We rank the operators on our private transportation page, and we disclose our interest in one of them.
Probably yes. Outside the resort areas Orlando has very little transport a visitor can use on a schedule. Our rental car or rideshare guide works the seven-day arithmetic through, including tolls and parking.
